Proteção Covid-19: resposta Escola Pequeno Cidadão
A COVID-19 é uma doença causada pela infeção pelo novo Coronavírus (SARS-CoV2) e manifesta-se por sintomas respiratórios (febre, tosse e dificuldade respiratória) podendo existir outros sintomas como dor de garganta, dores musculares generalizadas, perda transitória do paladar ou do olfato, diarreia, dor no peito e dor de cabeça, entre outros. A pessoa infetada pode não apresentar sinais ou sintomas (assintomática).
As crianças diagnosticadas com COVID-19 têm habitualmente uma manifestação ligeira da doença, com menor risco de complicações e hospitalização. Segundo as evidências científicas atuais, o vírus transmite-se, principalmente, através de contacto direto (disseminação de gotículas respiratórias, produzidas quando uma pessoa infetada tosse, espirra ou fala, que podem ser inaladas na boca, nariz ou olhos de pessoas que estão próximas) ou contacto indirecto (pelas mãos numa superfície ou objeto contaminado com SARS-CoV-2 e, em seguida, com a boca, nariz ou olhos).
Atualmente, estima-se que o período de incubação da doença seja entre 1 e 14 dias (tempo decorrido desde a exposição ao vírus até ao aparecimento de sintomas). A transmissão de SARS-CoV-2 pode ocorrer cerca de dois dias antes da manifestação de sintomas.
Os estabelecimentos de educação e ensino, nomeadamente creches e pré-escolares, são locais de convívio e partilha entre bebés, crianças e adultos educadores, onde importa estabelecer medidas de saúde pública, em alinhamento com as medidas implementadas a nível comunitário.
O confinamento e o encerramento dos estabelecimentos de educação, ainda que sejam medidas necessárias para controlo de uma epidemia, têm um grande impacto nos determinantes sociais, mentais e ambientais da saúde, reflectindo-se em consideráveis consequências a longo prazo no bem-estar físico, psicológico e social das crianças e famílias. Por isso, são medidas que devem ser ponderadas e da exclusiva responsabilidade dos órgãos competentes.
A Direção Geral da Saúde, para minimização do risco de infeção por SARS-CoV-2, recomendou um conjunto de medidas de prevenção e controlo da transmissão da COVID-19, tendo por base o distanciamento social, higiene pessoal, utilização de equipamentos de protecção individual, higiene ambiental e auto monitorização de sintomas.
